| What Travel Insurance Policy to choose
There are essentially two choices when taking out a Travel Insurance policy, those being whether to opt for an annual plan, or a single trip policy. As their names suggest, annual travel insurance allows you to travel more than once and still be covered, rather than the cheaper, single trip policy.
Annual Travel Insurance
It might seem obvious, but an annual travel insurance policy is the best choice if you travel more than once a year. It is not a great deal more expensive than a single trip policy, so might be worth considering even if you're not sure about your travel plans for the rest of the year.
Another thing to consider, even if you go on holiday only once a year, is that an annual policy may still save you money. Say, for example, you were to go on holiday in August this year, but July next year. With an annual policy, you will be covered for both trips, which will work out cheaper than two single trip policies, if you can plan that far ahead of course.
Something else you should be aware of is that most annual policies impose a maximum length of each individual trip (usually 31 days), so if you're planning an extended trip, you'll need to check this before taking out your travel insurance.
Single Trip Travel Insurance
As the name suggests, single trip travel insurance covers you only for the specified travel, and still has a maximum duration built in. These policies are usually cheaper than annual travel insurance, so if you don't travel very often, this type of policy could well be for you.
